The University of Pennsylvania Men's Rugby Football Club is a proud supporter of the Love For Liam Foundation, founded in memory of Liam Johnson by his parents — Foundation president Heather Johnson and Penn Rugby alumnus Kyle Johnson.
The Foundation was created in honor of William Herschel "Liam" Johnson, born August 1, 2021. In the 23 days of his life, Liam changed the hearts and lives of everyone around him. Days after his birth, his family received his diagnosis of Early Infantile Epileptic Encephalopathy and learned his time would be short. From that loss, they built a mission rooted in purpose and hope.
The Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness for pediatric epilepsy, funding research and treatment for genetic epilepsy, and supporting families navigating the challenges of this disease.
Through its fundraising efforts, the Foundation supports the Epilepsy Neurogenetics Initiative (ENGIN) at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, a national leader in epilepsy genetics. ENGIN gives children access to advanced diagnostic testing, personalized treatment plans, and cutting-edge research, and every donation made in Liam's memory goes directly to this program.

Penn Rugby has been a constant supporter throughout the Foundation's journey — from the first Liam Johnson Memorial Golf Outing to five Benefit Dinners. For four years, the team has worn the Love For Liam Foundation on its jerseys: a symbol of solidarity, remembrance, and hope.
Every gift made in Liam's memory goes directly to ENGIN at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
